CEF Josephine District Prayer Update for May 2011

Praises:

• Thank the Lord for blessing the Closing Fellowship, the week teaching at the Shield of Faith Missionary Training School in Bend, the CEF International Conference, and the Boatnik Parade tract distribution
• Praise the Lord for the good number of volunteers for the June fairs, filling gaps for some who’ve moved on to Heaven
• Ten teens from CEF Josephine heading to CYIA training school
• Praise God that expenses for CEF have been covered by donations so far this year thanks in part to many memorial donations received
• The support and involvement of the Church in the Valley in the Good News Clubs
• Praise that Ginnie Hendrickson does not have to have knee surgery and can help some with the crafts at camp

 

Prayer Requests:

Summer Ministries

• Souls would be reached at the CEF attraction in the old one room school house at the Pottsville fair June 18-19 and the story booth at the Rooster Crow fair June 25; that children would be drawn to these attractions and parents would allow their children to listen, for the Holy Spirit to empower the presentations of the Gospel, convict of sin and reveal the grace of God to the listeners
• Camp crafts preparation meeting June 13
• Fair training meeting June 15 would better prepare volunteers for service
• CYIA training school June 18-24 with more than the usual number of students expected; that the students would reach many children in Salem with the Gospel; safety in travel to the clubs and while sharing the Gospel in parks; good health of the students and staff; good security and wisdom as Jim oversees that aspect of the school; that the staff would effectively teach the students how to evangelize and train children in the Word
• Day camp staff still needed July 11-15:  Few more team leaders and helpers, a camp crafts table leader, and three more evangelists or missionaries for the afternoon assembly
• Five Day Clubs would be scheduled this summer that would reach many children; CYIAers would be available to teach them when scheduled, prepare and teach well

Good News & JYC Clubs

• The reorganization of the Rogue River schools would not hinder the children from attending Good News Clubs in the fall, especially those in middle school at the High School campus
• Club members would follow Christ this summer, learn from Him at camps, VBSs,  wonderzone.com, Tel-A-Story and through the Mail Box Club
• God would grant good relations with especially new school staff this fall
• The middle school clubs would attract more interest of parents and students next fall

• Averill Harp, healing of torn rotator cuff in her right shoulder

Most children reached in CEF do not attend a Church. All are encouraged to attend a local Bible believing Church and invited to enroll in a free Bible correspondence course.

CEF Josephine District Prayer Update for May 2011

Praises:

• 1400 children were enrolled in the 49 clubs this year with 444 who prayed to receive Christ
• Growth of most clubs this Spring with additional decisions to trust in Christ as Savior and Lord
• Faithful volunteer supervisors, teachers and helpers for each of the clubs, including some who taught additional clubs when needs for new teachers arose, permitting the continuation of all the school based clubs without interruption through the year
• Leadership of Betty Gutchess of the Evans Valley School club and its training class through the years and the Bible studies conducted by Pastor Scott Purrier of the Evans Valley Bible Church who hosted the club
• Gracious hospitality of Calvary Crossroads Church for the weekly CEF teacher’s training class this year

Prayer Requests:

Good News & JYC Clubs

• Additional teachers and helpers for next year’s clubs to fill a number of anticipated vacancies
• The proposed redistribution of middle school students to the Rogue River High School and closure of Evans Valley school would be resolved so that children would continue to be taught the Bible in CEF clubs
• Club members would follow Christ this summer, learn from Him at camp, Wonderzone.com, Tel-A-Story and through the Mail Box Club
• School staff would understand how valuable teaching children the Bible is and support released time

Workers & their Families

• Comfort for Jeanette Downes & family as Dee went to heaven April 27; Dee’s Memorial Service is Saturday May 21 at 11:00 AM at Shan Creek Community Bible Church, 6101 Riverbanks Road

• Souls would repent and receive Christ as they read the CEF tracts given out at the Boatnik Parade May 28
• Jeff Wagnell as he prepares to start serving with CEF in the Salem Area this summer

• Blessings upon the CEF International Conference May 16-21, especially for Supervisors Sylvia McLoughlin and Cora Williams as they attend and travel there to Ridgecrest, North Carolina
